If you understand what you play, you learn faster and play more freely. That is why theory lessons are not about dry rules but about hands-on music: we listen, sing, clap and play – and understand how harmony, rhythm and form work.
The lessons are for everyone who wants to go deeper: alongside instrumental or singing lessons, for band musicians, songwriters and composers – and for anyone aiming to study music.
Preparation for music college
Want to study music at a music college, conservatory or as a future music teacher? Besides your main subject, entrance exams require solid knowledge of music theory, ear training and rhythm. We prepare you specifically: with an individual plan for main subject and theory, exercises in the style of real exam tasks, and performance training in front of an audience in the MUKL hall.
Our teachers studied at music colleges in Germany and the Netherlands themselves and know the requirements from their own experience. Some of them even started their path to music college as students at MUKL.

Who are the theory lessons for?
For everyone who wants to understand music better – children, teenagers and adults, as a subject of its own or alongside instrumental or singing lessons.
When should I start preparing for music college?
The earlier, the more relaxed – ideally one to two years before the entrance exam. In a free consultation we look together at where you stand and what is still missing.
Do you also prepare the main subject?
Yes. College preparation combines main subject, theory, ear training and rhythm – plus ensemble and stage practice in the MUKL hall.
